Man and woman captured on CCTV after girl, 8, mown down in hit-and-run

An eight-year-old girl was mowed down in a hit-and-run last week.

Detectives are now hunting a man and woman captured running away from the scene.

A youngster has been left fighting for her life after being ploughed into by a car last Friday (17 June) at roughly 6pm in Coventry.

West Midlands Police have now released CCTV footage of the suspects, in hopes that the public will come forward with any information they have on the pair.

A tattooed woman with brown hair in a ponytail and wearing a black outfit is seen walking briskly along the road.

The man, wearing white sports shorts and a blue T-shirt, is then seen running in the middle of the road, away from the Toyota Yaris that hit the girl.

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

A police spokesperson added: “A man and woman can be seen in the footage we’ve recovered as part of our investigation.

“We believe they are involved and need to speak to them urgently.

“We believe a man and woman fled from the car and we need your help to identify
them.

“If this was you, please do the right thing and get in touch. A young girl is seriously injured and we need to understand what happened.”

Police say the little girl remains in hospital in a critical condition after suffering a head injury.
